Alberta is known as Canada’s energy province. It is estimated that Alberta's oil sands’ proven reserves equal about 165.4 billion barrels (bbl), which is the fourth-largest oil reserves in the world. Much of Alberta’s jobs are associated within the energy sector, both renewable and fossil-fuel related. Furthermore, Alberta is one of the most picturesque provinces in Canada, and is home to both Jasper and Banff National Parks.

With a strong focus on the agriculture, service and energy sector, Alberta is seeking to grow exponentially and in return is in need of professionals in both technological and skilled fields. Each year over 40 thousand new immigrants call Alberta their home. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. This program is jointly run by the Federal and Provincial authorities.

There are several streams that you can choose from to get nominated for permanent residency. These include the streams for workers, and entrepreneurs that have different subcategories of streams under them.

Alberta is seeking a variety of skills and qualifications to help grow its economy. For instance, foreign graduates can apply for permanent residence from outside of Canada under the Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa Stream. Experienced farmers who want to buy or start a farm in Alberta can also apply for permanent residence under the Self-Employed Farmer Stream.
